back to school – back to work

As Fall approaches and the arrival of the first day of school, it’s also a time when we start thinking about our careers. Whether you are looking for a new job or a better career opportunity in Retail or the Shopping Center Industry, ShopTheJobs.com has both. There is a noticeable increase in new positions and opportunities in these industries. As we look at our career path going forward, we want to be sure we are directing it towards the opportunities that will increase our knowledge base, add extra skills to our resumes and gives us growth in those niche areas where we were lacking in our past experience. In looking for a new opportunity, we should always ask ourselves, “What can I contribute to the company and what will I learn from the company to enhance my career?” Both go hand-in-hand for long-term employment. Careers are based on challenge, which promotes professional growth. In looking at a possible new opportunity, be sure to do your research on the company and its employees. Google the company, get stock history if a public company, check out their LinkedIn page, etc. This research will give you the necessary information to pursue the company and establish yourself as a credible candidate.
RECON Recap

Wow! What a difference a year makes. The ICSC convention in Las Vegas this past week was full of optimism, (albeit cautious optimism), with most sporting an upbeat mood. A survey of clients and industry friends revealed that retailers are starting to ramp up their expansion plans for 2011. We had a lot of activity in the Reconnect Pavilion as well, with candidates actively interviewing for a variety of positions. We are seeing an uptick on the hiring front particularly in Leasing, Marketing, Management and Retail Operations & Merchandising, including Buyers, Store and District Managers.
